from Grade One
Mrs.
Fontaine Room 105:
I hope you enjoyed your April vacation and are ready to get back to work!
Winter coats have been packed away and we are enjoying some wonderful spring weather! The children have planted seeds and are learning about what plants need to grow. May will be an exciting month with a Birds of Prey assembly and a First Grade Fun Night. Our reading continues to improve and many children are becoming great independent readers. It is important to understand that reading is a skill that improves with daily practice and can give so much pleasure throughout our lives. In math the children will be practicing + and – with numbers to 20 as well as exploring different types of measurement. Please encourage your child to come to school prepared and rested.
There is still much to
accomplish this last semester. Have fun reading, counting money,
telling time, and skip counting by 2's, 5's, and 10's. Remember to eat
well and get plenty of sleep. Be good to yourselves.
May is going to be a
busy, but exciting month! We've got our
First Grade Fun Night
coming soon. Hope to see all of you there!
We will be continuing to add/subtract as well as working with fact
families and different strategies to use in math. In Language Arts
we will be focusing on folktales. Have a great month and take time
to enjoy the wonderful spring weather!
