Oops! There's been a change of dates. Belcher First Graders are practicing for their tentative June 5th performance, Mr. Rogers' Welcome to My Neighborhood. This year Mr. Rogers would have turned 80, and we are honoring him. All grades are preparing for our June 12th Flag Day program. Keep singing until then!
Happy Mother's Day to every "mom" at Belcher This month the second grade students will be finishing their Power Point slideshows on Ocean Animals. The first grade students will be creating a May calendar using Microsoft Word. They will also be incorporating images that they will save from the Internet into their class folders. I know the students will be up for the challenge!
Spring
is here! (We think.)
It does not seem possible that this year is our 9th month of school. We have been very busy this year learning how to read words more fluently. This should help students remember more about the stories they are reading. Happy Mother's Day to all!
We have finished testing all LEP students in the building. The federal No Child Left Behind Law requires the Department to assess the English proficiency of all limited English proficient students on an annual basis. We hope everyone is enjoying the warmer weather outside.
As the end of the year grows near, it is important for your child to read 20 minutes each night. Also, try having your child read signs or boxes while you're out shopping. Even having them read street or store signs while driving will help strengthen their reading abilities. Encourage your child to read any opportunity that comes along!
