BELCHER SCHOOL PTO MEETING NOTES
2007-2008 PTO BOARD MEMBERS:
WE NEED PARENTS GET INVOLVED FOR THE SAKE OF THE CHILDREN. THEY ARE THE ONES THAT WILL BE AFFECTED IF THERE IS NOT A PTO NEXT YEAR. PLEASE CONTACT THE SCHOOL AND/OR THE PTO IF YOU ARE WILLING TO BE AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE PTO FOR THE 2007-2008 SCHOOL YEAR.
TEACHER & STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK: Teacher & Staff Appreciation week was May 12-16, 2008. The PTO provided a breakfast on Monday, candies on Tuesday, lunch on Wednesday, and flowers on Friday. All of the staff LOVED what we did and were very appreciative.
FUN/FIELD DAY: The date is set for Wed, June 11th with a rain date of Fri, June 13th. The PTO will provide a magician for the afternoon. It was requested that we have two showings so that the students can get a better view. We are going to try to get the same magician that we had for the holiday party. Jen to call and see if he is available and find out the cost. We are hoping to have 1st Grade, Rooms 203 & 204 for the first show from 1-1:30 and Kindergarten, Rooms 205 & 206 for the second show from 1:45 to 2:15. It was decided that the PTO does not provide additional snacks that day. We will bring jugs of water & cups to the park for the children to drink during the activities. It was also decided that we would supply freeze pops everyday for the children on the last full week of school (June 16th through June 20th, which includes fun/field day this year).
FIELD TRIPS, ETC.: We will check to see where we are at with the funds for each grade. We had allotted $22 per child at the beginning of the year and we need to make sure that is what has been spent. We need to make sure that we have money left in the account for next year, hopefully around $1,000.
FALL FUNDRAISER: It is the time of year when we should start thinking about the Fall Fundraiser. We will start contacting companies to work out the details about the PTO sampling their products.
TEDDY BEAR PICNIC: The Kindergarten Teddy Bear Picnic took place on Wednesday, May 21st. The PTO supplied the bubbles and pops, as usual.
FLAG DAY: Flag Day is June 12th.
OTHER NEWS: Mrs. Colon won the Grinspoon Award for Teacher Excellence. It was suggested that we present her with flowers.
