May News

           Room 108 Mrs. Smith

It's hard to believe that May is already here!  The students are working diligently in all subjects and we have a lot of material to cover before school is over.  Please remember that flip-flops are not to be worn in school.

Spring has definitely sprung in Room 109!!  We hope that everyone enjoyed their spring vacation and are coming back rested and ready to get back to work.

The month of May is here, flowers are blooming and trees are turning green.  Is it safe to say that Spring is finally here to stay?  Who knows?

For the month of May we are planning to study the planets and other celestial objects.  We will be sending a calendar home for children to draw the phases of the moon for one month.  This will be used to discuss months and seasons.

We will be doing some projects for Mother’s Day and wish all mothers, as well as those who take care of children, a Happy Mother’s Day.

We continue to use our point sheets to tally behaviors and reward accordingly.  We’ve had outstanding outcomes, therefore we encourage you to sit with your child on a daily basis to talk about their point sheets.  Give praise for high scores and talk about ways to improve behavior if total points are below 30 on a given day.  Furthermore, I suggest that you reward or not reward accordingly.  Your children are still young, which makes it easier for them to learn appropriate social skills.  I remind you that as they get older it will be more difficult to deal with inappropriate behaviors.  Let’s work together so that your child can be successful.
